About us

Swansea Academy of Syrcas is the city’s brand new dedicated circus school, offering high-quality training in circus, movement, and performance. Our academy is a space where people of all backgrounds and ages can discover their strength, creativity, and confidence through circus arts.


We provide expert coaching in a supportive, welcoming environment, guiding every individual from their very first discovery of circus arts to refining advanced performance techniques. With disciplines such as aerial hoop, handbalance, pole fitness, and acrobatic training, we offer a unique blend of movement designed to challenge and inspire. We hold weekly classes for both adults and children, to begin your circus journey take a look at what we offer.

Former owner of Swansea Pole and Aerial since 2019, Alan holds a BA hons in performing arts, an MA in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, Xpert qualifications as a coach and has worked as an acrobatic performer since 2011.

Gemma, our intermediate instructor has been Poling since 2017 and teaching since 2019. She is Xpert qualified in Levels 1,2,3 & 4 and enjoys incorporating resistance training and HIT conditioning into her Intermediate classes. Gemma has a wide variety of performance experience - she sang Lead vocals for 10 years with a rock band, as well as performing as a Caberet artist. Gemma’s passion is choreographing heels based routines, and encouraging people of all abilities to embrace dance and gain body confidence.

Beth trained as a classical ballet dancer from the age of 3 years, studying with the Royal Academy of Dance and as a student at the Central School of Ballet in London.  She took a 4 year break from dance to complete a BA degree in French studies before becoming a competitive pole artist and coach. She won the British Isles Pole dance Championships twice as well as IPAAT professional pole and hoop categories in 2016. Beth Studied at the National Centre for Circus Arts in London, graduating in 2013 with a first-class post-grad degree in circus arts, specialising in aerial straps. After graduating she worked as an aerialist touring with various companies including Cirque du Soleil for many years. She also won the bronze trophy and Audience Choice award at the Artistika festival in Switzerland with an innovative duo flying pole act with husband Martin Alvez.

Martin is a former elite level gymnast. He competed for fourteen years before becoming a circus performer. He then performed internationally for 20 years in many different shows including two Cirque du Soleil shows as a solo and duo aerialist. In 2008 he won the silver prize at the Golden Circus Festival in Rome and in 2018 he won the bronze award and Audience Choice at Artistika Festival in Switzerland. Martin is a qualified personal trainer (level 3) and has more than 20 years of circus coaching experience.

Adele Morgan

Adele has trained pole fitness for 10 years and has been coaching for 4 years. She is an Xpert qualified instructor in levels 1,2,3 and 4 and also has a keen interest in other fitness activities outside of pole fitness. She trains boxing, hyrox, circuits, kettlebell and boot camp classes and enjoys the strength and endurance required in pole to achieve high level tricks and combinations.
